Palms, Coconuts & Bay Seasoning

10/18/16 Day 7

Final breakfast at the pool. This table at the pool was my favorite hangout spot of the trip.

We stopped for lunch in a cute little town named Micanopy. It's full of antique shops. We ate at the Old Florida Café, a lunch restaurant with a resale shop inside.

Dinner was back at Ingleside Village Pizza in Macon, GA, same place we had lunch on the drive to Florida. Nice place. May try something different next time.

Dolphins, Beach Bars and Tacos

10/17/16 Day 6

As usual, breakfast poolside. It's really great to be able to do that!

On our last full day on Clearwater Beach, we took a dolphin tour on the Little Toot. It was fun and I recommend it. We had lunch AND dinner at The Bait House in the marina, it was that good. We enjoyed sitting outside on the wooden deck over the water. At sunset, we had cocktails on the beach at the Sands Beach Bar because I had heard it was a tiki bar, but of course it wasn't really a tiki bar. And the bar tender had no idea how to make a real Mai Tai. But it was on the sand, and that is good.

Dali and Gala, Tacos, Beer and Beach

10/16/16 Day 6

Ahhh...another poolside breakfast at an old Florida motel.

On this day, we visited the Dali museum. The temporary exhibit was about Ferran Adria who is a famous chef, and the show centered on food, the dining experience and his now defunct 3 star Michelin restaurant, elBulli in Spain.

We had lunch at Red Mesa Cantina in downtown St. Petersburg, which was completely spoiled by a nightclub upstairs playing dance music so loud that the walls shook. At lunch time.

We found the Dali & Gala mural and took photos. It's in an alley behind 953 Central Avenue.

In the afternoon we sampled craft beer at Green Bench in downtown St. Petersburg. I like their beer, but the vibe can vary from friendly to hoity toity depending on who is there and what's going on. I've seen a group doing acro-yoga there...there's giant Jenga...and a giant white square painted on the side of the building to show movies.

At night we were back on Clearwater beach and had dinner at a new restaurant, Marina Cantina. It is directly on the marina and we sat outside on a rooftop deck. Very pleasant.

Dunedin: Breweries, Dogs, Bikes & Carts

10/15/16 Day 5

Finished with the music festival, on this day we drove to Dunedin, FL to visit craft breweries. We started at Dunedin Brewery, Florida's oldest craft brewery. It's also a restaurant. We had lunch on the patio, along with a Great Dane.

In Dunedin, it is legal to drive golf carts in the street and we saw many sturdy carts.

The town of Dunedin is very cute and tourist friendly. We walked around, had an ice cream at Strachan's, purchased a souvenir Christmas ornament in a gift shop and locally roasted coffee beans from Dunedin Coffee Company. Dunedin also has dolphin statues, like we saw in Clearwater.

In the afternoon we sampled beer at 7venth Sun. Their beers were my favorite. The vibe at this brewery is like a large, relaxed party. We met another dog and several friendly people. A guy rode up on a high, old fashioned bicycle and another man had to try riding it, with comic results. A local couple sitting at a large table with us recommended Thai Town for dinner, so we went there. It was delicious! Always good to get recommendations from locals.

We finished off the night with a beer sampler at Woodwright Brewery, where we met more friendly people.

Gardens, Brews & Music

10/14/16 Day 4 Florida Botanical Garden, Barley Mow Brewing in Largo, Clearwater Jazz Holiday

Our favorite Florida habit, breakfast at the pool. Then we explored the very nice Florida Botanical Garden. Lunch was poboys at Gulf Coast Poboys (owned by a man from Louisiana) and beers at Barley Mow Brewing in Largo. I can't find any photos of the poboy place and brewery.

In the evening we went back to the Clearwater Jazz Holiday and heard Flow Tribe, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Trombone Shorty. All the bands are from New Orleans.
