Spark the Season: Year's End

I'm doing a photo a day in December with themes from Sparkpeople. Here are the final days.

Day 29: Warmth. I'm knitting a shawl for my dear friend, I hope it will bring her warmth.

Day 30: Resolution. With only 6 days left in 2013, someone I know posted that he had promised himself to go to Germany in 2013 and was on a plane to Frankfurt. That inspired me and I rushed to finish one of my 2013 goals, to finish sewing the last curtain panel in our living room. Finished with 26 hours to spare.

Day 31: Celebrate. There was no "celebrate", because I came down with a very nasty stomach bug, right when I am busy taking care of my husband whose leg is broken. Instead, he butt scooted down the stairs, used his walker to get to the car and rode a powered cart to take care of me. Pedialyte, soup, sherbet and of course, toilet paper. This is his photo.

Spark The Season Week 4

I'm doing a photo a day in December with themes from SparkPeople. Here's week four.

Day 22: Shopping. I did some gift shopping in our historic downtown, far away from the mall. Here's the Christmas tree I walked past, it's in front of the courthouse.

Day 23: Something red. Red tomatoes and salmon on a bagel for breakfast before our road trip to New Orleans.

Day 24: Family

Day 25: Gratitude. Grateful for travel knitting.

Day 26: Gift. My husband gave me a running hat with pockets and Velcro reflective arm bands.

Day 27: Favorite holiday food. Seafood gumbo.

Day 28: Baby, It's Cold Outside! Which is why I am looking forward to knitting the Bulky Montague Vest soon. This is my yarn, and photos from the pattern book, "New England Knits".

Spark the Season Week Three

I'm doing a photo a day in December with themes from SparkPeople. Here's week three.

Day 15: Memories. Remembering when I took this series of photos of my nephew always makes me laugh. He was like, "Where am I? Who's that? Hunh? MOMMMMY!"

Day 16: Relaxation. Our anniversary was on this day so we went to the spa for massages.

Day 17: Lunch. Kung Pao Tofu.

Day 18: Goal of the Day. Take two cats to a new vet. It was not working our taking them to the UGA Vet School clinic, so today we go elsewhere.

Day 19: Dinner. Today's photo theme was dinner, but more interesting than what we ate were the gifts we were given. We were at a combined dinner out for Mitch's firm and the firm of another lawyer we know. We were given homemade pumpkin cinnamon rolls and a can of special edition coffee beans from a local roaster. The beans were created in honor of our local roller derby team.

Day 20: Workout. Did 3.69 miles on hills, run/walk. Here's the elevation graph of my route.

21. Comfy. Made my house feel comfy by making homemade granola.

Spark The Season Week 2

I'm doing a photo a day in December with themes from SparkPeople. Here's week two.

Day 8: Best Part of Winter. Training for races!

Day 9: Snack. A friend posted that it was International Brownie Day. I didn't resist.

Day 10: Home. A squirrel in his home nest peers in at us in an upstairs room.

Day 11: Breakfast. Mine is always oatmeal with dried berries and a teaspoon each of peanut butter and maple syrup.

Day 12: Cookies. I made some healthy Oatmeal Chocolate Protein No-Bake cookies. These are good after a run and packed with nutrition, as well as tasty.

Day 13: Someone I Love. Photo from our Paris trip.

Day 14: Decorations. Christmas tree at the county park where I run.

Spark the Season Week 1

I'm doing a photo a day in December with themes from SparkPeople.

Day 1: Lights. My table top trees.

Day 2: Tradition. I send myself Harry & David pears every year.

Day 3: Morning. Outside enjoying birdsong, I spotted our firewood holder.

Day 4: Winter Beauty. Nandina berries.

Day 5: Homemade. I make freezer meals before traveling for the holidays because I never want to cook right when I return. Made this veggie bean soup that I can defrost and throw in the crockpot.

Day 6: To Do List. I use a system  to keep me organized, plus her holiday planner.

Day 7: Best Part of the Day. Several! Coffee with my husband, reading on my Kindle, running with my tunes and knitting (or watercolors/sketching).

Thanksgiving Moments

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family in Knoxville. Here are some photos.

Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

We spent Thanksgiving in Knoxville with family. On Thanksgiving day, my sister-in-law and I did a Turkey Trot in 23 degrees! Brrr. I did the 8K and she did the 2 miler. Here we are at race start, wearing the turkey hats I crocheted last year.

It was a frosty dawn before the race.

When I arrived at race start, I wondered where everyone was.

Then I found them, everyone crammed inside the convention center!

My route map from RunKeeper:

Hill profile. Very hilly!
