I Was Escorted To Europe by President Carter and the Secret Service

There we were, sitting in the plane in Atlanta waiting to pull off from the gate to fly to Amsterdam. Suddenly I heard a splattering of applause. Then others joined in. I wondered what was going on. I didn't have my glasses on but I could see a white haired man at the front of the plane, making his way along. I looked and squinted, and suddenly I saw who it was! I could not BELIEVE it! President Jimmy Carter and Secret Service! President Carter shook the hands of every single person on that plane. He made his way down one aisle and up the other. Didn't take very long, either.

I told him he is my hero, and Mitch had tears in his eyes and said, "Thanks for everything, Mr. President." Jimmy patted my shoulder and I wished my grandmother Dee had been there too to meet him.

A flight attendant told us we would not believe the number of Secret Service on that plane. And they brought a defibrillator on board with them.

After President Carter had moved on, Mitch remembered that Carter is the one who signed the bill legalizing home brewing!
