Weekend Update

This past weekend, we went to Charlottesville, VA for a yoga class with Canadian teacher Eoin Finn.

The first thing we did was buy these Sesame Street hats! Mitch is Bert and I am Ernie. LOTS of people talked to us because of these hats. It was fun. One lady even stopped us and took our picture. Who knows where that will wind up. She said she had just been talking with her friend about how in every relationship, there has to be a Bert and there has to be an Ernie, and then there we were, strolling along. Ha!

Class was wonderful. We are in the back row on the right.

My mom texted me this photo from New Orleans, she says these signs are everywhere. Almost time to run the half-marathon! I am looking forward to it. I have a 14 mile run/walk scheduled for this weekend, 5 miles the following weekend, then the race (with short midweek runs).

12.5 miles on Sunday

I ran/walked 12.5 miles on Sunday, here is some of what I saw. Even though there was snow on the ground, the weather cooperated with me. Temps were in the 50s the entire time, warm enough to wear a tank top.

I should add this song to my running playlist..."come from the land of the ice and snow".

Running, running, running...

Half marathon training continues!

I have developed a new winter running regimen. Every 3 miles, I stop and have a steaming hot cup of cafe' au lait and a snack. It's only civilized!

I also decided that now that the miles are longer, I'll take a page out of backpacker lore. While I'm having my cafe au lait, I also put on a fresh, dry pair of socks. This past Sunday I did eleven miles and did not get any blisters.

I may be a lot slower than most, but I finish strong with a smile.

After 11 miles, a final cafe' au lait break...

My favorite song when the miles get hard is by the Black Eyed Peas:

Between miles 10 and 11, all I could think of was this cartoon...

My new running partner, Frosty...

Mitch and I at a 5k Thanksgiving race.
