Ravelympics/Knitting Olympics

With each Olympics, knitters all over the globe set challenge projects for themselves and try to finish before the Olympic flame goes out. For this winter Olympics, I decided to finish a sweater that had been languishing. It only had 4.5 inches done and had been lying around in my knitting bag.

When the flame was lit, I got busy! And finished one day before the Games were over.

Here's what I started with:

Completed lace sweater!

During the Beijing Summer Olympics, I made this lace shawl from start to finish. All I did was knit all day, every day. Whew!

Valentine's Day in Athens, GA

Woke up to snow on Valentine's Day. It melted off during the day though and was gone by the next day.

Super Bowl King Cake

I made King Cake for the first time in honor of the Super Bowl. It was so extremely delicious, I plan on making it for Christmas from now on. Mitch's pastry chef cousin suggested decorating it like a holiday wreath...great idea!

Mitch tries his first King Cake and likes it!

King cakes in process...I made one filled with cream cheese and apricot...

And I made one plain and braided.

Super Bowl: WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Still thrilled by the Saints Super Bowl victory! WHO DAT! We had a Super Bowl gathering at our house in Georgia, but were in close contact with family in New Orleans.

Random guy my parents photographed during breakfast at Commander's Palace. I think he was still honoring Buddy D.

My Dad with a Black and Gold mustache, just like his dad used to do...

Aunt Kathy (Don's sister). She flew into NOLA from CO. I should have done that too.

Moi. I like Sir Saint.

Friend, at our house, Janet.

Mitch samples the game day holy water.

Friend Chris, known since childhood days at The Mountain.

My brother, Elie, in Knoxville, also painted Black and Gold.

New Orleans family on Don's side, he's sitting down in the middle with the black shirt and beard.

My sister, Sarah on the left with her cousins.

Sister Sarah and Dad Don. I got him that shirt for Christmas. It's a Saints Hawaiian shirt.

Mary Lou Harris

Last week, my wonderful mother-in-law suddenly passed away. It was a total surprise to us all. She will be greatly missed. GREATLY. We were in California this past week for services and to take care of things. So sad.

Here is a photo that I took of her 3 years ago on her 80th birthday.

And here are photos that others took this past summer. She was 83 years old. That's her niece and nephew.
