More renovations

BEFORE: Ugly wooden door...and it's an INTERIOR made door, placed in an outside entrance! Wha?

Semi-After: Attractive exterior door with a window. Still needs the trim. Much better!

Before: Single paned sliding glass door from 1962. Hard to open, secured with a metal bar. NOT energy efficient at all.

Semi-After: replaced with an energy efficient, double paned French door with blinds inside the panes. Still needs trim and hardware.

4th of July Fun

Mitch and I had a GREAT 4th of July. I had so much fun! We did a 5K at Lake Rabun, in the Georgia mountains. The race started shortly after dawn. It was gorgeous and only in the 60s, a big change from Athens' near 100 heat this summer.

View from Hall's Pavilion on Lake Rabun.

Us at the starting line.

Our fierce competition...

View from along the race route...

I was waiting to take Mitch's picture at the finish line, but I did not expect him to deliberately stop in order to make his time an even number!

Haha! He was having fun.

Every 4th, there's a wooden boat parade on the lake. We saw several vintage Cris Craft. Gorgeous.

Post race lunch in Clayton, GA.

My friend Beth Rene' gave me a big bag of cucumbers from her garden. So I made Bread and Butter pickles! They are GOOD.

Here's the sliced cucumbers, bell peppers and green onions after sitting in brine overnight in the fridge.

And then...pickles! It takes so long to get everything going, no wonder people tend to can large amounts all in one day and just get it over with. Wish I'd had more stuff to can.

Thanks BR!

Preliminary Walls

Mitch was kickin' it tonight! He slapped two coats of paint on in the living room. May need another coat, and then the trim. I better get to sewing the curtains!
