Birthday, Part One

My yoga class surprised me with these birthday gifts: a sign, and two party platters! We all went out to lunch on Thursday with our spouses, and one of them brought a batch of homemade cupcakes.

FINALLY! I get to see Jimmy Buffett live this Jazz Fest in New Orleans, and at his concert in Atlanta. Mitch and I will be joining the Parrothead throngs in Margaritaville.

Trader Vic's Atlanta

On a recent visit to Atlanta to see Dee and Diane, we stopped in Trader Vic's Atlanta.

You can see the lighted floats, puffer fish and rigging hanging from the ceiling...

tiki drinks...

wood fired ovens...they use these to cook duck and other foods...

street entrance tiki...

interior wall decorations...

Framing in the Porch

Mitch did some work framing in the porch so it can be fully screened. You can also see where he ripped down ivy that was growing inside the porch...everything will be cleaned out and newly screened with pet resistant screening. The flagstone will be replaced where it had been cut for growing the ivy.

Instead of an ivy screen facing the carport (blocking the view of cars), we will use bamboo curtains that move in the wind. Mitch also found a plastic ceiling fan (so it won't mold and droop) in the shape of bamboo.
