What I Got for Christmas

I'm looking weary since I'm on my 10th day of being ill...most of us here for Christmas are sick. But we still opened presents!

DH got me this wonderful tiki from Hawaii - Kanaloa - god ocean, fishing and abundance. And I'm wearing a t-shirt sent to me by my online buddy Trecia. Thanks Trecia!

More Weekend Photos

My brother has worked for years in the restaurant industry. Once during a visit, he and my DH got into a conversation about my brother's opinion that the public will eat anything if it's fried. My brother said if he could figure out a way to batter and deep fry a head of lettuce, people would eat it.

In deference to that conversation, we just had to try the grilled romaine hearts with fried capers and parmigiano reggiano at The National. Even though it wasn't deep fried.

below: our house has two kitchens. Here's the downstairs kitchen, which is like a sunroom. Every other window opens outwards and is screened.

below: found this today for our Polynesian themed decor. It's around 3 ft tall.

Mitch's Hat

Here's the hat I made for Mitch, for our anniversary. He picked out the pattern and colors. It's a "Third Eye Chullo".

More Fab Finds #2

More furniture finds at Agora.

below: a reportedly circa 1950s sofa by Flexsteel. Midcentury style and excellent construction. Needs some cosmetic work, missing some knobs on the front and a couple knobs are dog chewed (at time of purchase, not by my dog). Cushions need replacing. Hardwood frame. This sofa is 8 ft. long and comfortably seats 4.

below: we were thrilled to snap up this bamboo rattan chair. Will likely reupholster it with a retro patterned fabric (atomic style). Hope, hope, hoping to find a second one like it at some point to make a set. When we are done, the sofa and chair(s) will coordinate.

below: couldn't resist this resin tiki bobblehead and Leilani mug.
